Here's the view from outside. The window no longer has the arched top, but that's okay. Note the vent in the middle of the wall for the new fireplace -- no connection to the chimney at all.

In the beginning (1973), somebody built a house on 7oo East in Centerville. Lots of wrought iron Spanish accoutrements. A kitchen too small. Hydronic baseboard heating. A fireplace that was a space hog. In 2006, the owners of the house, (very nice people) decided to overcome the decline of three decades and do it over. This is the pictoral story of that valiant strike against residential entropy.
